A consultation is always required to determine the strength of your hair. Consultations can happen face to face. However, if you are a good candidate, you will be required to relax your hair prior to your appointment. Conditioner is not usually recommended, however if you apply it at least one inch away from the scalp, the conditioners have a release agent that may cause the hair extension to shed.
Tips for cold fusion hair extensions
1) Avoid using any products on the hair for about 48 hours after the fusion is done, and use only a natural bristle brush. Other brushes can tear out your hair extensions and damage your hair.
2) Maintenance appointments should be made at least once every two months, and once a month for optimal results. After four months, the hair extensions must be removed with no touch ups.
3) Hair should be shampooed for about 24 hours before maintenance. Any loose bonds can be replaced or repaired. If you fail to attend the maintenence appointments, it will not guarantee you the results on your hair. With proper maintenance, you can wear your fusion for 2 to 4 months, depending on how quickly your hair grows.
After Care Instructions
1. Brush out all the tangles, beginning from the end of the hair. You can work from the bottom, towards the crown. Always remember to brush the root area to prevent matting of the hair extensions
2. Hair extensions can be easily shampooed in the shower. Wet your hair thoroughly with warm water and place shampoo in the palm of the hands. Stroke the entire strand from the scalp to the ends. Avoid using circular motions as this will cause hair to tangle. Always wash your head tilted slightly back and not forward.
3. Squeeze excess water from the hair with your hands. Place the conditioner in the palm of your hands and stroke it downward. If possible, avoid putting conditioner on the attachments. You can comb through the hair with your fingers or a wide tooth comb to get rid of any tangles. Your hair extensions will not come of, if you get the conditioner on them, it will last much longer.
4. Rinse thoroughly with cold water
5. Pat your hair dry with a towel or wrap with a towel and avoid rubbing as this will cause tangles.
6. It is better to shampoo with a deep cleansing shampoo before maintenance appointment. If the conditioner is needed, apply at least one inch from the scalp to ensure proper application.
7. Heated dryers and hot weather do not affect cold fusion bonds, however, it is better to avoid direct heat from curling and flat irons.
Styling Your Hair Extensions
1. Use a brush with soft bristles instead of hard bristles. You should brush your hair at least two times a day from root to ends to eliminate all tangles and prevent matting of hair.
2. Use a boar bristle instead of a pick type brush. Bristle brushes are good too as they do not get caught on the point of attachments.
3. Dry your attachments after every wet treatment to prolong the life of your hair extensions and always follow up with a cold water rinse.
